Gustavs Lociks
Gustavs Voldemārs Lociks is a new media artist from Liepāja, Latvia. His artistic practice revolves around media processing and generative tools, through which he transcends boundaries and explores the legibility of information. With a strong foundation in visual and audio media, Gustavs has actively participated in various projects and exhibitions. He has presented his creative work at notable events, such as a music concert on the roof of the Great Amber Concert Hall and the Skaņu Mežs festival for adventurous music.
Additionally, Gustavs has had a solo exhibition titled “Reference Metadata” at the RIXC gallery in Riga, delving into the exploration of artificial intelligence and its application in both visual and audio generation. In 2020, he also received the Spēlmaņu Nakts (Players’ Night) award for video artist of the year. The artist’s video work “Spectating the Groundhog Day” (“Lūkojoties atkārtojumos”) has also been added to the Latvian video art archive at the Noass art center. Gustavs’ artistic focus is the fusion of technology and artistic means of expression.
